Much has already been said about Tom Lawson, dean of CalArts School of Art, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention his long and prolific practice as an artist and painter. While most notably associated with the Pictures Generation, Lawson’s work has been shown in galleries and museums around the world, from Metro Pictures in New York to MoCA, Los Angeles, and the Battersea Arts Centre, London.
Scroll through the gallery to view just a sampling of Lawson’s works and watch the video to hear Lawson walking through his recent Attending to the Bats exhibition (2020) at Louise Alexander/AFP in Los Angeles.
