Regan Mozingo writes, “My dance company, Astra Dance Theatre, created a piece over the pandemic to speak to the ravages of the opioid epidemic. Our piece—Cod’ine—is based on the song of the same name by Buffy St. Marie. When we were ready to shoot, all the stages and professional shooting spaces were closed, so we transformed my library into a black box theater and shot the film there. The footage we got was dreamy and evocative, the dance passionate and tragic … and much to our delight this film was included in the Boulder Ballet Film Festival and the Experimental Film and Dance Festival.”
