In April 2025, 12 world premiere string quartets from John King’s (Music BFA 76) ongoing Free Palestine series—which now encompasses over 155 works—were presented at Roulette in New York City, performed by the Flux Quartet. In June 2025, the Venice-based Quartetto Obliquo performed three of these compositions during their 12-city tour of Italy. In October 2025, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s chamber string quartet will perform two works from the series during a six-city Vermont tour in a program themed “Resistance.” Early in 2026, a new UK-based quartet will present a full concert of Free Palestine premieres as part of the opening season at the Edinburgh branch of the Palestine Museum US.
