Megan Broughton writes, “I’m excited to share my participation in the MaréMotrice artist residency in July/August 2023. Four artists and two crew members will sail a 50-foot boat from the west coast of Iceland to the eastern coast of Greenland. This path includes crossing the Denmark Strait and sailing along the Greenland coast for about two weeks. The boat, Knut, is an old Italian racing prototype that has been retrofitted for the ice and made a carbon-free vessel complete with an electric engine and solar panels thereby having no reliance on diesel. This is my second residency in the Arctic (The Arctic Circle Residency, Svalbard, Norway 2019) and will shape my future work with experimental etchings and immersive installations.”
