Jennifer Murphy checks in, “I am celebrating the 10th year of Street Creature Puppet Collective, a processional arts organization that I helped found, based in Asheville, North Carolina. We are currently putting on a new family show The Earth Is Alive with giant puppets and songs about Appalachian medicinal plants. I was an artist in residence at Revolve Gallery Asheville for the month of March 2022, building puppets and sets for the show. Last fall, I curated and helped produce Hominy Rising, a week-long exhibit of temporary outdoor art installations, performances, and family activities on a local greenway. I’m on the board of the Asheville Fringe Festival, which has continued to help keep Asheville weird, despite pandemic challenges. I also make mosaic, concrete, and ceramic garden art for the joy of it. My children are grown, and both are artists. And now I have a 2-year-old granddaughter. Life’s been good to me so far!”
