Adam Stern is the music director/conductor of three Washington State orchestras: the Seattle Philharmonic, the Sammamish Symphony, and the Federal Way Symphony, as well as associate conductor of the Oregon Coast Music Festival in Coos Bay, Oregon. His programming continues to highlight works that have been unjustly ignored or forgotten, particularly those by women composers. Recent seasons have featured US premieres of works by Ruth Gipps, Helvi Leiviskä, Ljubica Marić, Margaret Bonds, and Grażyna Bacewicz. An upcoming event will be the Northwest premiere of an orchestral work by Alexis Alrich, who studied composition at CalArts in the 1970s.
