Roger Holzberg (Theater 78) reports, “Teaching the ‘Healthcare By Design’ class, in the experience design program at the Theater School, yielded significant successes during the previous year. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, my class delivered a patient experience pilot to infuse creativity into ‘palliative care and end of life’ at Henry Mayo Hospital. The launch and patient/clinician response were so positive that the pilot was immediately made available in over 500 rooms. In a year where our clinical partners saw more loss of life than any previous year in their history, our class was able to ease anxiety, educate interactively, and help families build lasting legacies. Here is an article from the press event.” (The attached photo includes the CalArts faculty, students, and the hospital clinical partners).
