Randy Balsmeyer (Art 73) was visual effects producer and supervisor for the Spike Lee/Netflix picture, “Da 5 Bloods.” His team was nominated for a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. He also designed title sequences for two of this year’s Oscar nominees, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “Hillbilly Elegy.” Randy has been pleasantly “stuck” in Thailand since COVID hit over a year ago but plans to return to New York this summer when the borders will hopefully open up again.
