Salvatore (Sam) Torrisi (Music MFA 03) reports, “I got an MFA in composition/new media in 2003. I went on to earn an MA in applied linguistics and then a Ph.D. in neuroscience at UCLA. My postdoctoral work was accomplished at the National Institute of Mental Health in Maryland, and I am currently a research scientist in UC Berkeley’s Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute. I use ultra-high field MRI to study the function and connectivity of the brain and have focused on things such as emotion regulation, bipolar disorder, attention, anxiety, pediatric epilepsy, and vision.”
