Myron Emery (Film/Video MFA 72) writes, “A digital restoration of God with a Green Face, a documentary featuring Kathakali dance, directed by Bruce Ward and myself, was screened on Jan. 20, 2020, in Kerala, India, its cultural home state. The Hindu epic tale Ramayana, a 1970 documentary, was screened for the first time before many original master actors, contemporary actors/artists, and general audience during the Kerala Kalamandalam Kathakali Company World Tour 50th Anniversary Celebration. Starting during my year before retiring, restoration of this unique footage to its original quality, came about by piecing together a collection of 16 mm camera original footage and heavily used prints and was only possible after the Film/Video School acquisition of a Blackmagic Design Cintel Scanner.
